how busy things are for young families, we offer "flexitimes"
for all ballet classes - Nursery to Grade 3. This means that if a class is missed it can be made up at any time during
the term by coming to the same level class on another day.
Carter School of Dance for Comprehensive Professional Dance Training
Welcome to our website
We do hope you will find it informative, but please feel free to contact me directly via the "Contact Us" page with any questions.
We endeavour to create possibilities to explore the art of dance for all participants who wish to gain skills and learning in dance. Ages range from Nursery to Adult.
Our comprehensive timetable covers the following classes:
*Ballet* *Modern Theatre Dance* *Tap*
*Contemporary* *Acrobatics* *Pilates for Dancers*
Carter School of Dance offers the opportunity to gain enjoyment and confidence from a dance experience tailored for each individual.
At Carter School of Dance:
Our location is easily accessible with free car parking adjacent to our classes, which is very important, especially for younger families. We also have a waiting area and changing facilities.
Everybody at the school aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment and encourage parents/carers to be part of the progression and experiences. The teachers are always happy to talk to families as we strive to work in an open and encouraging atmosphere.
We aim to teach the principles of sound technique to achieve a strong standard as it is attainable for each individual. We will encourage the progression of balletic training through the structured syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance. The school encourages the progression of Modern and Tap training through the structured syllabi of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. Where appropriate, for gifted students, information and support on how to pursue their talent via scholarships and specialist schools will be made available.
Based at The Sele School - Hertford's specialist in performing arts - Carter School of Dance benefits from wonderful practice space, including the purpose built dance studio. The considerable space available to us is vital for young dancers as it offers full scope for freedom of movement.
We also have pianists to accompany the ballet classes and to encourage musical understanding.
We hope that you enjoy looking at the images of the school's students taken at our Dance Shows at the Hertford Theatre (formerly Castle Hall). These shows are an important part of the school's activities. The opportunity for public performance is planned every few years and alternates between the senior (Grade 3 and above) and junior students. Each class (and all students) perform. Details of our forthcoming shows can be found above right in "Stop Press".
All other photos on the website have been informally taken or are the property of the students and we thank the students and their families for these images.
We look forward to welcoming you to Carter School of Dance.
